Antoine Griezmann has agreed to join Manchester United for £89 million and a weekly wage of £280,000, according to reports.

The Sun says that the Atletico Madrid forward has agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford club, paving the way for the deal. United are also willing to meet Griezmann’s £89 million buy-out clause in his contract.

France international Griezmann, 26, has been Mourinho’s number one transfer target for the summer, as he seeks to bolster his striking options – especially given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t signed a new contract and Wayne Rooney could also leave.

Griezmann has previously expressed reservations about moving to Manchester – such as whether the club reaches the Champions League and the weather – but apparently assurances about other signings and an increase in contract offer have been enough to sway him, according to The Sun.

If the deal goes through, it will equal the record £89 million United paid to Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer. However, it is thought Griezmann’s wage will be significantly higher than Pogba’s.
