Joerns & Acorns Celebrate A 10 Year Partnership

Joerns & Acorns Celebrate A 10 Year Partnership

Joerns Healthcare UK and Acorns Children’s Hospice are celebrating a decade of partnership worth more than £70,000 in vital funds.

Leading Manufacturer And Supplier Of Patient Handling

Joerns Healthcare, is a market leading manufacturer and supplier of rehabilitation and patient handling equipment. In addition, it has been supporting Acorns since 2011 with an annual allowance towards medical equipment and training. Therefore, this has been benefiting hundreds of local children, every single year.

Fundraising Activities For Acorns

Furthermore, on top of the allowance, dedicated Joerns staff have been taking part in an annual program of fundraising activities. They have been raising much-needed funds towards Acorns’ work, caring for children and their families across the Midlands.

Emma Aspinall, Director of Care at Acorns, said:

“As a charity that relies on the generosity of the local community, it cannot be overstated how grateful we are to Joerns over the past 10 years.”

“The equipment and training they deliver, mean our staff can continue providing the very highest quality care to local the children and families who need us.”

“Our thanks are also to, the wonderfully dedicated staff at Joerns who continually go above and beyond in their fundraising activities to raise funds towards our work, every single year.”

Traditional Annual Christmas Raffle | Joerns UK

In the past 10 years Joerns staff at the company’s Drakes Broughton office have taken part in a wide variety of fundraising activities. This is from sponsored weight-loss and Creme Egg eating challenges to what has now become a traditional annual Christmas raffle.

Last year’s Christmas raffle alone raised an impressive £1,600 for Acorns. This is thanks to match funding from the company. As well as, a generous donation from one of Joerns’ international suppliers.

Curtis Jordan, UK Marketing Manager at Joerns, said:

“Although I wasn’t directly responsible for striking the partnership between Joerns and Acorns, back in 2011, the synergies between both organisations are obvious. I was certainly keen to maintain and develop the relationship created over those initial two to three years.”

“Through the leading handling solutions we supply to the healthcare industry, it’s clear we are uniquely placed to support the Acorns plight. And over the years, we have worked closely with all three hospices to ensure many equipment needs have been met. This in turn has helped facilitate the very best care for the children and young adults who rely on the incredible and dedicated service Acorns deliver.

“We actively encourage all of our employees to be a part of this partnership. And help dream up new and fun ways of fundraising. For 2021, following a postponement from last year due to the pandemic, we have a team, myself included, who are taking on the 3 peaks challenge of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in September, so look out for further updates!”

In the past year Acorns has cared for more than 800 children and 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.

It costs the charity around £10 million every year to continue, with the bulk of that amount coming from fundraising and donations.
